that smashed box office records on Broadway several decades ago makes
a comeback on the road. |

It
was 36 years ago that audiences around the world were introduced to
the jovial rants of a struggling soul named Tevye. With the help of
his loving wife Golde, five precocious daughters, and the unforgettable
tunes of an imaginary Fiddler On The Roof, Tevye captured our hearts
in a masterpiece that continues to soar today.
The Tony-winning opus (nine awards, including Best Musical of 1965)
is once again making its way across the country in a brand new production.
This month, you can catch Fiddler at the following stops: May 29-June
3, The Palace Theatre (Columbus, OH); June 5-10Wolftrap (Vienna,
VA); June 12-24, Colonial Theatre (Boston, MA); June 26-July 1, Fox
Theatre (Atlanta, GA).
Based on Sholom Aleichems turn-of-the-century short story Tevyes
Daughters, Fiddler proves to be a timeless tale of family love,
anti-Semitism, and of course, tradition. Produced by Nederlander Presentations
Inc. and Sunset Attraction Inc., the show (with a book by Joseph Stein,
music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick) is directed by
Sammy Dallas (who meticulously recreates Jerome Robbins original
choreography), and features veteran stage and screen star Theodore
Bikel (shown here). Members of the production team include Bottari
& Case (costumes); Steven L. Gilliam (sets based on the original
designs by Boris Aronson); and Peter J. Fitzgerald (sound). sd |
