Cirque du Soleil Entertainment and Technology Symposium at Chapman University, Oct. 21-23, 2011.
Alicia Okouchi-Guy, Assistant Professor of Dance, and Don Guy, Head of Entertainment Technology, are bringing Cirque du Soleil to Chapman University. This symposium will give students, faculty and administrators from Chapman and surrounding universities and community colleges an unprecedented opportunity to interface with Cirque du Soleil professionals and their partner companies. The event will promote the development of forward-thinking curriculum and the collaboration between the performer and technician through master classes in a variety of disciplines.
Class topics will include; audio, rigging, projections, automation, casting, dance, acting, music, health & safety, stage management, automated lighting, company management, resume writing, make-up, and costuming. Another exciting aspect of the symposium will be the industry partners that will be on hand to display technology and teach master classes, including: Meyer Sound, Coolux, Stage Technologies, Vari-Lite, Columbus McKinnon, and Carnival Cruise Lines, to name a few.
